Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Scrubin Medical Education LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the ScrubIN iOS app, the ScrubIN web app, the getscrubin.com website, and any related services (collectively, “ScrubIN”). By creating an account or using ScrubIN, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use ScrubIN.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a ScrubIN account. By using ScrubIN, you represent that you meet this requirement.

What ScrubIN Is

ScrubIN is an educational tool for surgical learners: medical students, residents, fellows, attendings, and pre-health learners. It provides board-style practice questions, clinical scenarios, mastery tracking, and related study tools across plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, and related specialties.

ScrubIN is not a substitute for clinical training, supervised practice, institutional protocols, board certification curricula, or your own professional judgment. Content reflects the best efforts of our contributors but may contain errors or become outdated as medical practice evolves. Some content is drafted with the help of software tools, including AI, before review.

ScrubIN is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any hospital, residency program, medical school, specialty board, or exam provider. Exam names such as ABSITE, PSITE, and OITE are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe the subject matter of our content. We do not guarantee any exam score, board outcome, or training evaluation.

Not Medical Advice

Nothing in ScrubIN constitutes medical, diagnostic, or clinical advice and nothing in the app is intended to be used for the care of any specific patient. Always rely on your training, your attending’s guidance, your institution’s protocols, and current clinical guidelines when making patient care decisions. Do not use ScrubIN in an emergency or as the basis for a time-critical clinical decision. Do not enter any patient information (PHI) into the app.

Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity on your account. You agree to provide accurate information when signing up and to update it as needed. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. See our Privacy Policy for details on data deletion.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials with others, or use someone else’s account
  • Scrape, copy, redistribute, or republish ScrubIN content outside the app
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of ScrubIN
  • Use ScrubIN to train or fine-tune AI models without our written permission
  • Enter patient information (PHI) or anyone else’s personal information into the app, including in search, notes, or feedback
  • Choose a leaderboard alias that is offensive, impersonates someone, or identifies another person
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with ScrubIN’s infrastructure
  • Use ScrubIN in any way that violates applicable laws or third-party rights

Research

ScrubIN is used in research on surgical education. Using ScrubIN does not make you a research participant. You take part in a study only if you give separate, informed consent, and you may decline or withdraw without any effect on your access to ScrubIN. For anyone who takes part, the study’s consent form governs how study data are handled.

Leaderboards

Leaderboards are optional. If you join one, other signed-in users can see your entry as described in our Privacy Policy. We may change or remove an alias that breaks these Terms.

Purchases

Core learning in ScrubIN is currently free. We may offer optional paid features, as one-time purchases or subscriptions. The price and what you receive will be shown before you buy. Purchases in the iOS app are processed by Apple under its terms; refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its refund policy. Purchases on the web are processed by Stripe. If a purchase is a subscription, it renews until you cancel it, and you can cancel from your Apple ID settings for App Store subscriptions or by contacting us for web subscriptions. Except where required by law, web purchases are non-refundable.

Intellectual Property

All ScrubIN content, including questions, explanations, scenarios, diagrams, software, and branding, is owned by Scrubin Medical Education LLC or its content contributors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Your account grants you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to access ScrubIN for personal educational use only.

User Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or content reports through the app or to our support team, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use that feedback to improve ScrubIN without obligation to you.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to ScrubIN at our discretion if you violate these Terms or if continued access would be unsafe or unlawful. You may stop using ScrubIN and delete your account at any time. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, dispute resolution) will continue to apply.

Disclaimer of Warranties

ScrubIN is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that ScrubIN will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that content is current, accurate, or complete. External sources and links cited in ScrubIN are provided for reference; we are not responsible for their content.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scrubin Medical Education LLC and its founders, employees, contractors, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) ScrubIN. Our total liability for any claim relating to ScrubIN will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain of these limitations, so some of them may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Scrubin Medical Education LLC and its founders harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of ScrubIN, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or ScrubIN will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Apple App Store Terms

If you download ScrubIN from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Scrubin Medical Education LLC only, not Apple, and that we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content. Your license to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.

  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging any claim that the app infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with any applicable third-party terms, such as your wireless data agreement, when using the app.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, have the right to enforce them against you.

General

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about ScrubIN. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notice. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of ScrubIN after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
